Kids classes

Did a number of demo drawings for lesson plans for kids art classes for the Newport Art Museum, and the Warwick Center for the Arts. Coloring books, comics, manga, and cartooning – it’s good to get some classes going again!

Wanted to share with you this latest project that I did for a magazine cover design. The good people over at ‘The Bubblah’ needed a cover design for an upcoming issue, and I decided to indulge my love of backyard birds. I just love having those little dinosaurs flitting about!

Warwick Art Museum (Warwick Center for the Arts)

As many of you know, I also teach drawing/illustration. One place I hold classes is at the Warwick Art Museum, now called the Warwick Center for the Arts. I taught my very first class there in 1998! They are having a gallery showing of work by the art instructors who teach there. Some great and varied work! Stop by and check it out at:

3259 Post Rd, Warwick, RI 02886  https://warwickcfa.org/

They are also holding Summer camp classes – in person! Very few spots due to social distancing guidelines, so sign up soon! (my classes are listed at the bottom of the flyer)

Horse pencils…

I think it’s important to keep up with “traditional” methods of illustration. Well, not going so far as cave-painting or woodcuts, but i have done linoleum cuts! These days, though, we’re too enamored of digital media. It’s very useful, and fun to do, and creates unique artwork – but when the massive solar flare knocks out ALL electronics – what will you do?! So, you see, using pencils is actually ahead of its’ time! Just don’t let “Planet of the Apes” see you drawing when they take over!
