I’m outta here!

For those of you who are wondering how I’m getting around after my recent surgery, it’s going something like this. You cannot stand still, or let minor inconveniences slow you down! Gotta keep moving! Keep running the race!

“I thought I was a poor man because I had no shoes, until I met a man with no feet”

This is the first piece I’ve finished since the operation. Dang medication had me loopy!

Godzilla inks!

Just finished these inks for my recreation of “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” #12 (1st series). Took me longer than I had hoped (lot’s of other work going on!). Now, let’s see how long the color takes

Bugs Bunny

“Bugs Bunny” Dell comics 1952 recreation. Did you know that “Bugs” real name is George Washington Bunny? That he was the first cartoon character to be put on a postage stamp? That he has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame? See? Learn something new everyday!

Donald Duck!

For all you Disney/Donald Duck lovers – I finished the recreation of the old Dell comics “Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories” of this cover from 1945, by Carl Barks. I will have it with me when I’m at the Seven Cedars Fall Festival Sept. 6th 120 John Mowry road, Smithfield, RI. Stop by and see me!

Retro Comic Book Cover…

Just finished some Old School inks for this throwback cover of Walt Disney Comics from 1945! I haven’t pulled out the ole’ dip pens for quite some time, but I do think it’s important to preserve (and use) the old methods. This will be particularly true when the machines/AI take over and no longer allow us to create our own art!

Tales to Astonish!

As promised (to my students) here is the full set – from pencils to inks to full color for the “Tales to Astonish” No. 14. I’ll have the Manga cover done soon. Stay tuned!

Comic Cover Inks

Here are the inks for a couple of pieces I did last week. The first, “Tales to Astonish” is a commission piece. The second, “Curse of the Serpent” was done for last weeks class, ‘Penciling for Graphic Novels.’

The students got to see the completed pencils, but wanted to see the full inks, so I’m posting this for them. I know they’re looking – ‘cuz I can hear them breathing on the screen!

These are photos of the inks. I will be posting the scanned inks, as well as the full color versions. It takes time, so stop pressuring me!
